Summary
This article outlines the core purpose of HealthPro and the overall flow from adding new cameras, servers, and storage units, to managing them and their licenses, as well as assigning tasks to resolve issues.
Overview
HealthPro makes it easier for administrators handling multiple dispersed video security systems to stay aware of the status of the installations.
- Cameras can go offline for any number of reasons, as can recording servers.
- Servers and storage units can show warning signs of strain even before they fail, and scheduled interventions can eliminate unscheduled downtime.
- As cameras become smarter, the underlying software (firmware) and on-board apps need frequent updating, but this can be challenging for geographically dispersed systems.
HealthPro addresses these challenges with proactive, system-wide, cloud-based monitoring and management.
Key Features
Hanwha Vision HealthPro is a cloud-based health monitoring and device management solution. It is compatible with a variety of devices, and 1, 3, or 5-year subscription licenses unlock premium functionality.
HealthPro may be used either with Hanwha Vision cameras that support direct-to-cloud connectivity, or together with HealthPro Bridge, which acts as a software bridging mechanism and supports 3rd party cameras such as AXIS, i-PRO, and Onvif.
HealthPro has deep integrations with WAVE, so that those cameras and recorders may also be monitored at scale.
-
Health monitoring: Monitors the health of both Hanwha Vision and 3rd party cameras such as AXIS, i-PRO, Onvif, WAVE servers, and storage, other cameras via WAVE, and HealthPro Bridge servers.
-
Software (Firmware) management: Identifies devices that need software (firmware) updates, and HealthPro Bridge servers that need software updates, incorporating new features, bug fixes, performance improvements, and cybersecurity enhancements and schedules the updates to maximize uptime.
-
License management: Tracks software licenses assigned to specific cameras, so you can proactively renew them to maintain continuous service.
-
Life cycle & warranty management: Tracks the remaining life cycle & warranty on compatible cameras so that they may be prioritized for refresh for those who do not wish to keep out-of-warranty equipment.
- Asset management: Extensive camera information can be exported as CSV files for subsequent analysis, for example to assist with asset management or to prioritize update or refresh tasks.
- High accessibility: Uses the secure cloud for high availability and remote access from anywhere.
Device Manager and HealthPro
Wisenet Device Manager and HealthPro are complementary products.
Device Manager focuses on the on-site initial configuration of cameras, such as network settings, names, analytics rules, etc.
HealthPro addresses the post-configuration need to remotely monitor and manage these devices including cameras, servers, and storage, as well as their software (firmware), warranty and license information.
High-level Flow
- Navigate to Cloud Portal where you can add your Locations, Devices, Users, and Licenses.
- Click the App Switcher (
) icon in the upper right corner of your screen and click HealthPro.
- Add (claim) your devices that you have previously onboarded into Cloud Portal.
- Basic health monitoring does not require licenses. For all other features, ensure the cameras have attached HealthPro licenses.
NOTE: Step 4 is not applicable to devices connected indirectly via WAVE.
You now have a configurable dashboard showing:
-
- A tree of all locations and their health status.
- A summary of the status of your cameras, servers, and storage units.
- A summary of how many devices are eligible for a software (firmware) update.
- A summary of your licenses highlighting the number expiring soon.
- A tree of all locations and their health status.
-
- A summary of the remaining warranty on your cameras.
-
- A list of notifications covering a wide variety of topics, into which you can drill down for more information, or assign.
Cloud-enabling Cameras for HealthPro
HealthPro can monitor and manage the devices, software (firmware), and licenses remotely because it is a cloud-based solution. This requires that the devices under management be directly, or indirectly, connected to the Internet.
The first step when using HealthPro is to cloud-enable your cameras so they can be monitored and managed by HealthPro.
HealthPro Bridge is a free software application that runs on-premise on any compatible Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) server and acts as a software bridge.
HealthPro Bridge can connect directly to compatible cameras, referred to as Direct-to-Bridge devices, assuming they are on the same network and subnet. Additionally, when HealthPro Bridge is connected to a local WAVE recorder, it can monitor any cameras via the WAVE recorder that were not directly compatible with HealthPro Bridge. It will also provide WAVE server health monitoring.
It is strongly recommended that HealthPro Bridge, WAVE systems, and all sub-devices use wired static IP addresses (disable unnecessary NIC / WiFi). If you use dynamic (DHCP) IPs, all connections will be disconnected when the device IP address is renewed, and must be periodically updated through HealthPro Bridge. If done incorrectly, your database may be corrupted.
NOTE: To learn more about HealthPro Bridge, see HealthPro Bridge: How do I add
multiple devices at once to the Hanwha Vision Cloud?
Finally, the most direct approach is the CloudConnector App that runs on compatible Hanwha Vision cameras, which connects the camera directly to the cloud.
The available HealthPro functionality varies with the connectivity method, as shown below.
| Connectivity Method | Hanwha Vision cameras | Other cameras |
| CloudConnector App | Health status, software updates, life cycle information, reboot | Not applicable |
| HealthPro Bridge direct to camera (Direct-to-Bridge) | Health status, software updates, life cycle information, reboot | Health status, manual software updates, reboot |
| HealthPro Bridge direct to camera initiated by WAVE | Health status, software updates, life cycle information, reboot | Health status, manual software updates, reboot |
| HealthPro Bridge indirect to camera via WAVE | Health status | Health status of all WAVE cameras |
| HealthPro via WAVE Sync (small systems only) | Health status | Health status of all WAVE cameras |
