Issue Summary
Certain bug-repelling pesticide ingredients, specifically Bifenthrin and Phthalthrin, can negatively affect Poly Carbonate (PC) / Poly Urethane (PU) materials. When these materials come into contact with PC/PU, they cause these materials to decompose, resulting in polymer chain cut deformation. As a result, coatings on windshields or other surfaces, such as those on bullet cameras, may begin to peel off when exposed to these pesticides.
This article provides the recommended actions to prevent such damage.
Resolution
To prevent damage, it is recommended that pesticides not be sprayed or applied near PC/PU materials, especially around cameras and other sensitive equipment.
Pesticides used to repel insects (such as flies, mosquitoes, spiders, cockroaches, etc.) typically contain a large amount of chemical ingredients that can harm PC/PU surfaces. Customers should take extra care when handling these chemicals to avoid accidental exposure.
