Wisenet Installation app vulnerability warning from Google Play Store

Issue Summary

When trying to download the Wisenet Installation app from the Google Play Store, a warning appears with wording similar to "Private certificates may be vulnerable to security risks. Please proceed with caution."

It is safe to proceed.

Hanwha cameras are embedded devices that create their own private certificates.

Resolution

Google notified Hanwha that their policy does not allow applications that connect to clients using self-signed certificates.

However, Hanwha cameras are set to communicate via HTTPS by default, which requires a certificate, and embedded devices such as cameras generate their own (private) certificates.
