Summary
This article details how to test the camera to verify that the OnCloud Edge Recording is working properly.
Testing the Edge Recording
To verify that OnCloud Edge Recording is working:
- Log in to OnCloud with username and password.
- Select Devices.
- Select the appropriate camera.
- Click on the camera name to open the Camera Detail View. The
icon to the right of the camera name indicates Edge Recording.

Verify that the camera is streaming live video.
- Verify that Events are populating in the right-hand column.
NOTE: Depending on the location of the camera, you may need to trigger
motion events on the camera by moving an object or person past the camera.

To play an event and verify that it was recorded successfully, click it.
In some cases, an event that appears in the Events column may not have any recorded video associated with it.If for some reason the event was not recorded, only a spinner appears in the video area and no video is shown.
- If events are not populating, click Close to return to the Cameras page, and then click the camera again to open the Camera Details page.
NOTE: If a camera is not recording, the following error message
appears on the camera page: -
If events are still not populating, select Camera Settings > Storage.

Verify that Enable Edge Recording is switched On, the SD Card Slot has a card inserted, and that the model is supported.

Click Analytics Settings.
- To turn on detection for events, click the switches to flip them to the right
.
- To change detailed settings for an event, click the pencil
.
Adjusting the Camera Settings
To adjust the camera settings:

From the Device Information page, switch to Video Settings.

Adjust the bitrate, frame rate, and other settings as needed.
NOTE: Changing video settings may reduce the number of days the SD card can store. - Click Storage.
- Select Recording Profile > Retention Days.

Click Edit to change the number of days the camera retains Standard Quality video.
NOTE: The system calculates the maximum allowed days based on
the installed SD card. - Select the number of days required.
- Click Save to set the number of Standard Quality retention days.
