Summary
Wisenet WAVE makes database backups weekly and before every software update. You can use these backups as a last resort to restore a system in cases such as when the admin password is lost or when there is an unrecoverable problem with WAVE. These backups do not replace the best practice of creating backups whenever you modify a system and store them on network storage or another location apart from the local system.
This article explains how to retrieve WAVE automatic database backups.
Retrieving WAVE Automatic Database Backups
To retrieve WAVE automatic database backups:
- Locate the most recent backup file.
The automatic backups are stored at the following locations:
Windows
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Hanwha\Hanwha Media Server\backup
Linux
/opt/hanwha/mediaserver/var/backup
- Copy the backup file to a different location.
- If recovering a lost password or broken WAVE installation, uninstall the WAVE server completely, reinstall, then restore the saved backup from step 2.
You may need to deactivate licenses and reapply them.
NOTE: The file naming convention is:
ecs_[buildversion]_[timestamp]_[timer/update].db
timer files are generated weekly, and there should be up to four.
upgrade files are generated before in-client upgrades in case an update
needs to be rolled back.
