Summary
This article describes how to select the method of storage for your video by selecting a Recorder.
Using the Recorders Menu
To use the recorders menu:
- Choose from a WAVE, NVR, and DVR, unless you have an alternative head-end, which you can include in Additionals.
NOTE: You must select only one type of recorder per project.
DesignPro lists what the head-end needs to handle your cameras.
A warning appears if there are discrepancies between what is needed and what is included in the project, including channel licenses, network bandwidth, storage, power, and network ports.
WAVE forces the camera’s bitrate to change according to recording quality settings. Therefore, the scene setting of profile cannot be reflected in the Camera BW calculation. For that reason, when setting WAVE, the Scene of the profile set in the camera group is automatically changed to quality (manual setting is also possible).
Adding a Recorder
To add a recorder:
- Hover over the Wave Recording Server, NVR, or Pentabrid DVR to add to the project and click +.
A window appears that displays the model, bandwidth capabilities, Operating System options, RAID options, and total HDD storage capacity options.
- Click OK to add the recorder to your project.
- To compare different recorder models, click the
icon for each model to compare and then click the
icon on the right side of the screen.
A window with the data sheet comparison for the recorders you selected opens. You can also click the Differences Only checkbox on the right.
- Click the
icon to expand the device list to expose more recorder details.
- Click the
icon to collapse the expanded window.
