Applies to: Avigilon
Summary
There are multiple steps involved in Road AI “setup menu” as well as from the Avigilon Control Center (ACC) side to be able to receive point-of-sale (PoS) / plate reads into ACC. This article provides instructions for setting up a Road AI / PoS event.
NOTE: If using Avigilon ACC 7, you must use either ACC7-STD (Standard) or
ACC7-ENT (Enterprise). Avigilon Unity 8 supports PoS on Core, Standard, or
Enterprise. Additionally, you need to have a PoS license for each RoadAI
camera used (either ACC7-POS-STR or ACC8-POS-STR).
Prerequisites
Before beginning any steps:
- Make sure the date and time on the camera is sync’d to the server.
- Make sure you have the compatible camera that is running Road AI Open platform application with the latest firmware.
Firmware: PNO/PNV-A9081RLP: 1.41.00_20210716_R140
PNB-A9001LP(PNB-A9091RLPH): 1.41.02_20221019_R150
Road AI app V7.27.678.1045
- Make sure ACC is on Avigilon Unity 8 or ACC version 7.14.x.x
Configuring a Road AI / Point of Sale Event
To set up a Road AI / PoS event:
- Open the Road AI app and click Settings.
- Enter the IP address of the ACC server and four-digit Port number.
IMPORTANT: ACC’s default Port is 10001 but Road AI only works with
four-digit ports. - Make sure the Road AI camera is added to the ACC server and you can get video from the camera.
NOTE: If video is blank, navigate to client settings > site networking,
then change the connection method from LAN to WAN. - Log in to Avigilon.
- From the navigation bar on the left, right-click the site name and select Setup.
- From the server drop-down menu, select the specific server name.
- In the Advanced section, click the POS Transactions tile then click Add in the pop-up window.
- On the POS Transactions Setup pop-up, enter the following:
Hostname/IP Address – enter the IP address of the Road AI camera
Port – enter the same four-digit port number from step 2 (must match)
Connection Type – select the Server radio button
- Click Next > Add to add a Source Data Format.
- In the Properties section, configure the data format as follows:
Name – enter a name
Description – enter a description (optional)
Transaction Start Text – enter <LPR>
Transaction End Text – enter </LPR>
Encoding – select UTF-8 from the drop-down menu
- In the Filters section, configure the filters as follows:
Under Current Filters, leave the two default filters (first two listed). They have no effect. (optional)
Enter Remove <LPR> and Remove </LPR>. This way the text in the receipt/transaction does not show the words <LPR> and </LPR>.
NOTE: Sometimes, plate search results show 1-3 extra characters
at the end. There is no known fix at this time.
- Click OK > Add.
- From the server drop-down menu, check the box next to the camera(s) associated with this data source.
- Enter a Transaction Source Name and a Transaction Source Description.
NOTE: The name used here will appear in search results, such as
plate reads. If using multiple Road AI cameras, give each camera
a unique name. - Check the box next to Enable transaction source. This must be checked for plate reads to be sent to ACC.
- Click Finish.
