Network camera fails to send images via FTP and e-mail

Issue Summary

This article describes the issue and resolution when the network camera fails to send images via FTP and email. After upgrading the camera to the latest firmware, an image transferred via FTP is corrupted and the corresponding 0KB file is created.

When an event is triggered, text can be sent via e-mail but the images cannot be sent.

The problem occurs as the Event (FTP/E-mail) Profile changed from MJPEG to H.264 after a firmware update. With the addition of the Video clip feature in the new firmware, the default codec for the Event Profile has been changed to H.264/265.

H.264 file transfer via FTP results in 0KB (corrupted) files.

Resolution

After a firmware update, change the Event (FTP/E-mail) Profile from H.264/265 to MJPEG.
